Year 1 & 2’s enjoy Ennerdale

This week headed over to Low Gillerthwaite Field Centre in Ennderdale and ran an environmental and team building day for each class. Over the 4 days all the Year 1 & 2’s from St Gregory and St Patricks Primary School in groups of 36 each day travelled from Whitehaven into Ennerdale for there day of fun and learning.

They started the day after an introduction with an environmental team building session together in the field before spitting into 3 groups and heading off to different area of the centre grounds and surrounding woods. Orienteering to find out information on the way Gillerthwaite is powered, kept supplied with water and kept warm, shelter building in the woods and more before coming back to a warm evening meal cooked by our chef Adey.

This day is a great introduction and this age to the outdoors and we are looking forwards to the future when the same young people will hopefully be back with us hear at Low Gillerthwaite to stay overnight and do some ghyll scrambling or canoeing on the lake or even summit one of the local hills.

A big thanks to all the teachers, and our dedicated Real Adventure team… Jen Aldous, Philippa McMurdo, Emma Warren and Chef Adey.
